Yes, today is the anniversary of D-Day, but also the day we arrived in Alaska. Had hoped to make it to Tok yesterday, but the frost heaves and pot holes were just a little too much for us, so we finally called it quits and pulled into a CG for the night. We were welcomed, but warned about Bears being around and to keep our traveling companions inside or constantly with us. Needless to say, we didn't see a thing. In fact, we haven't seen any wild life the past few days. The chamber of commerce in Canada is great about saying wildlife on the roads?????
Need to backtrack a little. Yesterday morning, our refueling experience went very smoothly either we are catching on to the Canadian way of doing things or we just got lucky. Now that we are in the USA we will forget what we learned.
Today our washing of the 3 RV's and toads went much better. Here again, we are getting better on our learning curve - moving upward. By the end of this trip, we might have a new way of earning some extra money.
Think we saw enough of Tok today and will be heading to Valdez in the morning for 2 nights.
The CG is having some country/western music tonight. It sounds great sitting here in the RV and listening to it.
I as well as the rest of the group are happy to be reunited with our hotspots, phones, and computers. It definitely was a learning experience that something so readily available in the USA wasn't so in Canada and also very expensive. I guess we are as addicted to this new technology as the younger generation that we so often criticize.
For those with an interest sunset tonight will be 11:20pm and sunrise 3:32am. That also means that there is no such thing as a "dark" sky. It is twilight for those 4 hours. No difficulty sleeping, but the mindset to go to bed when the sun is shining.
Sign off til another day!
